Foreign nationals, whose immediate relatives are permanent residents, might be eligible for Green Card. For a long time spouses and unmarried children under age 21 of green-card holders have been experiencing a three-to-five-year wait for Green Card based on Visa Bulletin posted monthly by the Department of State. However, the latest Visa Bulletin for August 2019 shows that the final action date for this category, know as F2A, is “current”. This means that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is now processing F2A green card petitions submitted by spouses and children of permanent residents. Keep in mind, this only applies to Adjustment of Status application for beneficiaries currently living in the U.S.
According to the Visa Bulletin, the final action date for the F2A category is expected to remain current through the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends on Sept. 30. However, it is recommended to take action and file a petition as soon as possible.
